Jay Aspin
Jay Aspin (born August 19, 1949) is a Canadian politician. He was elected to the Canadian House of Commons for the federal Conservative Party of Canada in the 2011 election, representing the electoral district of Nipissing—Timiskaming.〔("Sudbury-area voters part of orange wave" ). ''Sudbury Star'', May 2, 2011.〕 He finished just 14 votes ahead of Liberal incumbent Anthony Rota in the initial count, triggering an automatic judicial recount〔. Aspin was defeated by Anthony Rota in the 2015 federal election, who aspin defeated in 2011. Aspin lost by 11,000 votes to Rota and garnered 14,000 total ("Official recounts triggered in two Ontario ridings" ). Prior to his election, Aspin had served as a councillor for the City of North Bay, as well as a trustee for the Near North District School Board and its predecessor, the Nipissing Board of Education.
